Pugliese rooftop terrace with artichokes and tomatoes drying on woven mats, late afternoon
Place
Puglia sits at the heel of Italy, where summers are long and dry enough to sun-dry tomatoes in the open air.
Cherry tomatoes grown here ripen fast and concentrate fully before harvest.
The best are left on the vine the longest for drying.
Sun-dried tomatoes being ladled into glass jars, dried herbs on a wooden table
Process
The cherry tomatoes are dried in the sun until most of their water has left, then bottled whole in sunflower seed oil and extra virgin olive oil with basil, parsley, chili peppers, garlic, and oregano.
Sixty-three percent of what is in the jar is tomato.
The oil carries the dried herbs and the flavors of the drying season.

People
We work with the family in Puglia that grows and dries the tomatoes on the same land.
The drying and bottling happen in sequence, in the same season.
We visit to taste from the batch before each shipment.

Questions

  • The oil has solidified in the jar. Is that normal?
Yes. Olive oil solidifies naturally when cold. Leave the jar on the counter for 20-30 minutes before opening and the oil will liquefy. The tomatoes are fine.
  • How long does it keep once opened?
Refrigerate after opening. Keep the tomatoes submerged in the oil and use within 2-3 weeks.
  • Can I use the oil in the jar?
Yes. The oil picks up the flavor of the herbs and the drying season. We use it as a dressing when the tomatoes are gone.
  • How is it different from dry-packed sun-dried tomatoes?
Dry-packed are chewier and more neutral. These have been bottled in oil with basil, parsley, chili, garlic, and oregano. The oil infuses during storage and is as useful as the tomatoes themselves.
  • Are they soft or chewy?
Soft. Dried until most of the water is gone, then re-hydrated by the oil during bottling. Not as chewy as dry-packed ones.
  • Does it contain added sugar?
No. Sun-dried cherry tomatoes, oil, basil, parsley, chili peppers, garlic, oregano, salt, ascorbic acid. No added sugar.
  • Is it vegan?
    Yes.
  • How is this shipped?
From our New York warehouse. In-stock orders ship within 1-2 business days. Free shipping over $75.
  • What if it arrives damaged or I don't love it?
Write to us. We refund within 60 days, no questions asked.

Fixed a boring lunch

these tomatoes rescued a very sad desk salad. They are tender, pleasantly chewy at the edges, and packed with enough flavor that I skipped dressing and used a little oil from the jar instead. Later I chopped some for scrambled eggs and put the rest on a sheet-pan pizza. No leathery pieces so far, which is what usually makes me quit on jarred tomatoes. The lid was stubborn and i nearly gave up, but once open the jar lasted maybe three days. next order is two jars bc my roommate has discovered them now 😅

Sweet savory balance is perfect

The thing that gets me is the sweetness. Not artificial, not cloying. Just the natural sweetness of properly dried tomatoes balanced against the savory of good oil. Put these next to a fresh burrata and get out of the way.

Compares well to Italy

We spent two weeks in Toscana two summers ago and I have been chasing this flavor since. This jar gets close. Close enough that I have stopped looking.

A little disappointing

bought based on other reviews. flavor is fine but not dramatically better than what i get at the italian grocery down the street. maybe im comparing it wrong. 4 stars feels fair

My go-to pizza topping

These have replaced every other pizza topping for me. The sweetness and the savory balance is unlike any other brand I have tried.

Great on crostini

sliced a baguette, toasted it, put ricotta on top, then these. served it to four people. no one was talking for a few minutes. thats always the goal.

Gifted to my mother

Purchased as part of a holiday basket for my mother. She called me twice to tell me she had been eating them straight from the jar. She is 74 and has never reviewed a product in her life but she made me pass that along.

Incredible on pizza

These go on my homemade pizza every single week. The flavor is concentrated in a way that grocery store sun-dried tomatoes just arent. Not watery, not tough. Perfect.

Gifted two jars

Brought two jars to a dinner party. Both empty by end of evening. Host asked me to order more on her behalf before i left.

Charcuterie addition

Added these to a charcuterie spread alongside Pecorino and some cured meats. They were gone before anything else. Sweet, savory, a little soft in the best possible way.

Panini game changer

Layered these into a panini with fresh mozzarella and basil. Pressed it. That was the whole meal. Made it three days in a row.

Reliable quality

Every jar I have ordered has been consistent. Same flavor, same oil quality, same texture. That reliability matters.

Concentrated flavor payoff

The flavor is concentrated in a way that means you dont need much. A few pieces transform a dish. I keep a jar in my office desk drawer. Technically that is a weird thing to admit.

Does what it says

Clean ingredients, intense flavor, good oil. Does exactly what it says on the label.

Date night staple

We do a weekly pizza night at home. These go on every pizza. My partner calls them 'the good tomatoes' now and will specifically ask if we have them before we start.

Replaced my grocery brand completely

I used to buy the Trader Joe's version. These are not the same category of product. I have stopped buying the other kind.

Best pantry staple I own

ok this is embarrassing but ive gone through four jars in six weeks. on crostini, torn over spaghetti at the very end of cooking, on salads, on pizza, inside a grilled cheese. the oil is incredible too. i messaged a friend and told her to order immediately and she did and she also now has a problem.

Converted skeptic

I thought sun-dried tomatoes were a 1990s thing. My wife bought these and now i put them on everything. Salads, toast, directly into my mouth from the jar.

Standard solid product

Good flavor, good texture, good oil. Not a life-changing experience but a very solid pantry item I will reorder.

The oil is the secret

Everyone focuses on the tomatoes but the olive oil they sit in is what sold me. Finished a whole bowl of pasta with it instead of butter. My daughter noticed immediately and asked what was different.

Use the oil!

psa: USE THE OIL. dont drain and toss. pour it over pasta, dip bread, drizzle on vegetables. its half the product.

Serious pantry upgrade

These replaced three other jarred products I was buying. Turns out I was buying inferior versions of the same thing when I could have just had this.

Arrived broken

jar cracked in transit. contents were fine bc it sealed itself somehow but the crack was visible. emailed support. they sent a replacement quickly. the product itself is great, five stars for the tomatoes, two for the shipping experience

Soft but flavorful

Softer texture than I expected but the flavor is genuinely excellent. Would have preferred slightly more chew. Minus one star for texture preference.

not what i expected

not bad. just kind of soft. i expected more chew. the oil was good though.

Good but short shelf life after opening

Flavor is excellent. Texture is right. But once opened I found it needed to be used within a week or two or the oil started tasting off. Just a heads up if you dont cook much. Buy one jar at a time, not six.

Six Italian regions. Nothing reformulated. Imported direct.
